When Chickens Escape

May 13, 2015 by Ermela Spearman in Animals

There is one very precocious little Barred Rock chick that always comes over to play when her brood box is being cleaned. We didn't fully grasp how much attention she wanted until Graham heard loud (proud?) chirping coming from downstairs over the weekend. At first he thought the chicks were playing, but something in the tweet had a "please help" sound. Sure enough, running around our very unfinished living room was this little girl. Check out the instagram page @brokenchimneyfarm for a video of the final chase scene. Lesson learned, brood boxes need lids and a chicken coop needs to be moved up higher on the to-do list.
